unifi express

Pros

• Got my god parents to upgrade to a Unifi Express and mesh AP to extend coverage.
• Parent context: When I was using the garbage free router they gave us. It was awful.. the unifi express has saved us Reply: the unifi express has saved us
• The Express and Express 7 are the only two that can be repurposed as an access point in any UniFi network... This is nice way to re-use the hardware if you outgrow it.
• Get a Unifi Express for $149 or step up to the Express 7 with wifi 7 for $199. The regular express should meet your needs tbh.
• The Express cost as much as a U7 Pro and can be used as a WAP when connected to the UDM. I needed better covered in this immediately part of my house and it didn’t make sense to pay to run Cat6 to another ceiling/wall WAP.

Cons

• So would that be something like the UniFi Express 7 and then link that to a switch for the various direct ethernet devices? would I need additional access points?
• Yeah don’t get the express. The fiber gateway is much more future proofed in the event of faster ISP speeds.
• Unifi Express
• As long as you are using it for AP it's fine. Running it as a router the uniFi network interface is so fucking slow it makes my slow cooker look like Seabiscuit!
• I have one of those. It's a better paper weight.
