Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Pro

Pros

• Check out Unifi's Cloud Gateway Max, or their Dream Machine Pro (UDM-Pro) Their firewall and UX has come along way.
• Currently I’ve an original UDM Pro, however I’m upgrading the fibre connection in the house to 2.5 gb, so I’ll need a new gateway.
• I have a wireguard vpn server on my udm pro at home.
• My Ubiquiti Home : UDM Pro, USW Aggregation, USW Enterprise 24 PoE, UNAS Pro and around 10 other USW Flex/Flex XG/Flex mini switches distributed in my home + U6 LR and some Nano HD wifi APs
• Personally I started with just the APs and had the software on a VM while using openwrt on a router, then a couple years later went all in with a UDM Pro (and switches and cameras).

Cons

• The UDM has a bigger issue in that all eight of its "gigabit" ports on the switch share a single 1 gigabit connection back to the UDM's CPU. So if you have three or four devices connected, they're all sharing 1Gbps of bandwidth - they do...
• Yeah, 8 cameras on my UDM Pro showed up as "Removed" after the update, and reformatting the drive seemed to be the only fix.
• But FWIW, I ended up putting my drive back in my UDMP after I moved Protect to a UNVR because you get better logs/history for the Network app when there’s a drive.
• I'm really tempted to just go get a UDM pro and pray to god that fixes my issues.
• The UDM Pro tops out at 3.5 GBPs with IDS/IPS enabled.
