Samsung HW-Q930D
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Samsung HW-Q930D is frequently recommended as a high-value 9.1.4 channel soundbar that delivers much of the flagship Q990D's performance at a significantly lower price point. While most users are impressed by its immersive Dolby Atmos capabilities and rear speaker performance, a minority of owners find the sound quality 'boxy' or the subwoofer underpowered for their preferences.
Pros
- Excellent rear speaker performance for Dolby Atmos immersion
- Strong value-to-performance ratio compared to the flagship Q990D
- Great soundstage and solid bass for both movies and music
- Standard sound mode provides a natural, non-artificial listening experience
Cons
- Lacks HDMI 2.1 support for high-end gaming features
- Some users report the speakers can sound 'boxy' or 'tiny'
- Subwoofer may feel underpowered for those seeking extreme bass levels
Caveats
- Differences between this and the Q990D are reportedly minimal unless used in very large rooms at high volumes
- Some users feel it is not a mandatory upgrade over a Q800 series with added rear speakers
Best for
- Users wanting a full 9.1.4 Atmos setup without paying flagship prices
- Small to medium-sized rooms where maximum volume is not the priority
- Movie enthusiasts looking for dedicated physical surround speakers
Avoid if
- You require HDMI 2.1 passthrough for 4K/120Hz gaming
- You have a very large room and prefer the higher max volume of the Q990D

q930d samsung soundbar good option but will not have hdmi 2.1 for playing game.
Q930d rear speaker very good for dolby atmos. I liked it very much.
Whereas my 700$ Q930D is actually nothing to scuff at as you seem to be implying. I compared it to a colleague of mine 10K avr 7.1 setup from 2014 and the difference is really not worth the price.
The 930 is where it’s at for most people and will probably cost you half of what the 990 sell for.
I'm glad I did and am loving the Q930d sound system.
You can find a Q930D for around that price, which is much better
Hey everyone, I’ve been rocking the Samsung Q930D for about a year now, and honestly it’s been awesome, great soundstage, solid bass with the sub, immersive for movies and music alike.
Barely any difference unless you got a big ass room and blast high vol.
I have both but got the 930 open box for 500. Definitely worth it as the differences are somewhat noticeable but not to the point where it's crazy different.
The Q930D or Q930F are your best options if you can stretch your budget.
