Q930
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Samsung Q930 is widely considered a high-value alternative to the flagship Q990, offering nearly identical real-world performance in a sleeker form factor. Users frequently praise its immense power, noting that they rarely need to exceed 25% volume for everyday use. While it is often described as a Q800 soundbar bundled with rear speakers, the addition of those rears is cited as a significant upgrade for immersive audio. Opinions are overwhelmingly positive, with most users suggesting it is the 'sweet spot' for those who want a premium surround experience without the flagship price tag.
Pros
- Excellent value-to-performance ratio compared to the flagship Q990
- High power output with clear sound even at low volume levels (typically used at 10-25%)
- Sleeker and more compact form factor than the top-tier models
- Significant surround sound improvement over standalone bars like the Q800
- Effective sound modes, with 'Standard' praised for clarity and 'Adaptive' for impact
Cons
- Marginally lower performance and fewer features (side speakers/wattage) than the Q990
- Requires a specific room layout to benefit from the included rear speakers
Caveats
- Essentially functions as a Q800 soundbar with added rear speakers
- Availability can be limited depending on the region
- Some users find 'Adaptive' or 'Surround' modes fatiguing for long-term listening compared to 'Standard' mode
Best for
- Users seeking flagship-level surround sound on a tighter budget
- Rooms that can accommodate dedicated rear speaker placement
- Owners of Samsung or LG OLED TVs looking for seamless integration
Avoid if
- Your room layout does not allow for rear speakers
- You want the absolute highest-spec flagship model regardless of price
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age of ~434 days), which should be considered as newer soundbar models may have since been released.

the Q930 is probably not as good as a Q990 at whatever price point.
I dont have a good enough layout to make use of rear speakers so please dont recommend bundles like the q930.
The Q930 is amazing you/they won't be disappointed.
Grab the Q930 on sale somewhere. You will be satisfied.
Q930 is the way to go
The Q930 is more than fine. You'll never know the difference from a Q990 honestly. They're pretty similar in real world performance.
If not the Q990 then go for the Q930. You will save a good bit and still have an amazing soundbar.
Q930 (about 10% better than the 800+rears)
I got the Q930 3 years ago and finally satisfied. I occasionally wonder about a 990/jbl and may do avr in a couple of years but never felt the urge to upgrade since the 930.
I also suggest checking Q930 if it's notably cheaper. 100W and 2 extra side speakers is something I doubt you'll ever need.
