Samsung Q990F
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Samsung Q990F is widely regarded by users as a top-tier, all-in-one soundbar system that offers significant value, particularly when found on sale. It is frequently recommended for its immersive performance and the inclusion of a dedicated subwoofer and rear speakers, though some users note it may not match the depth of high-end dedicated wired speaker systems.
Pros
- Excellent value for money, especially through EDU/EPP discounts or regional sales
- Comprehensive package includes the soundbar, a subwoofer, and two rear speakers
- Effective 'Night Mode' for late-night viewing
- Firmware updates are generally straightforward via USB
- Solid build quality with a plastic mesh on the sub that protects against pets and vacuums
Cons
- Subwoofer may lack 'physical rumble' due to its dual-cancelling design
- Rear speakers can occasionally feel underpowered or difficult to hear
- Staging and depth may not compete with high-end dedicated 5.1 wired systems
- Some users report reliability concerns compared to competitors like Sony
Caveats
- The subwoofer is designed for purity over physical impact, which may disappoint those seeking heavy bass vibration
- Performance can be highly dependent on the quality of the source material and objects in the room
Best for
- Home cinema enthusiasts wanting a high-end setup without the complexity of a separate receiver
- Users who can access Samsung's educational or employee pricing programs
- Small to medium-sized living rooms where an all-in-one system is preferred
Avoid if
- You require deep, physical bass 'rumble' for your movies
- You are looking for the absolute best soundstage and depth provided by dedicated wired bookshelf speakers

Their final verdict, although they gave Q990d slightly more points, "The Samsung HW-Q990F is the best soundbar we've tested."
The new Q990F has a dual-cancelling sub that's a lot purer but has virtually no physical rumble, as far as I know. I wouldn't upgrade to it myself for this exact reason, but if it's anything like the Q990B in all other aspects + a non-rumbling bass that you'd prefer, I'd go for that if I were you.
I absolutely would yes. And it's one of the best soundbars on the market, so it has all of those. It also comes with a sub and 2 rears included.
In the end I went with the Samsung, and I do not regret my choice in the slightest. Plus, you get more value for money.
