I use linux mint xfce and it is wicked fast on an 11" macbook air 2015 with 4gb ram so if you can find any supported intel Mac I'd say give it a go! There's also asahi linux m1 but I have no experience there Reply: I’m a software dev and my main machine is a MacBook Pro M4 Pro. Linux support for that is basically non-existent right now (I have tried and failed)

M4 pro is good, screen is better, battery is better. Don't like how it's locked down on the OS and the keyboard isn't good.
