Pros

  • take the Thames River boats (Not the uber clipper ones) the opposite way and to Kew Pier and spend the day at Kew Gardens
  • Kew Gardens... it's wonderful, but a little further out and worth taking time over.
  • I recommend going to Kew a gardens right from the airport. You can stow your bags and spend day outdoors which is great for getting acclimated to the time difference
  • Kew Gardens if you're into plants, winding up in Richmond (beautiful enormous park and Richmond town centre has great vibes
  • I also love going to Kew Gardens & having tea at Maids of Honour afterwards.

Cons

  • Day 4. That’s a long time at Kew. It’s nice but unless you guys are botanists….. Consider Hampton Court (big), Richmond Riverside or Putney as an add on.

Kew will be best part of a day and well worth it if gardens are your thing.

Last year I did Richmond and Kew gardens which gave me a better appreciation for London than a big bustle.

Instead of Richmond you might consider Kew Gardens, as I’m trying to think of playgrounds in Richmond and there are not loads near the river.

Kew Gardens has a Christmas festival in December, check tickets and the coffee shop is lovely, you might get your afternoon tea there.
