Pros
- WLED with ESP32 gives you lots to start with, plus you can create your own.
- Because WLED is open source and has a lot more customization. It’s more versatile.
- LEDs are individually addressable WS2815 (12v) controlled by WLED running on an ESP32.
- WLED (Dig-Uno or Dig-Quad ftw) + lights (in pretty much any style you fancy) from AliExpress. WLED integrates natively intno HA.
- Wled is open source and customizable. With Wled, if something breaks, all you have to do is replace the part that is broken. Any other light strips, if something breaks, you will have to replace everything.
Cons
- Parent context: If you are using an ESP32 based controller you could have installed WLED and it would have done the work for you Reply: I'm pretty familiar with WLED and short of creating a custom effect there isn't one that does exactly...

WLED over the coffee machine turns on at 9 am, turns to colours at sunset, off at 23:45. All automatically.
There is an integration called team tracker, and it's currently flashing a set option through WLED to display my team colours now, something different when they score.
Pretty much anything esp32 or esp8266 based can be flashed to open source firmware such as WLED or Tasmota or ESPhome
