Pros

  • I’ve read quite a few reviews of the SomniPods, and a lot of people say the noise cancellation works well against steady, low-frequency sounds like traffic. Because of that, I’m leaning slightly toward them at the moment.
  • I’ve been using the SomniPods 3 for that, and the combination works surprisingly well. They sit almost flush with my ears, so I can sleep on my side without feeling them pressing into the pillow, and I can stream my own white noise inste...

  • The 125 Hz bump makes sense to me. It adds a little warmth/body without trying to force a ton of sub-bass, which these tiny sleep buds probably aren't going to do convincingly anyway. I also wouldn't push the upper mids too much, especia...
  • To me it sounds fuller without getting too muddy, and voices come through a little clearer. ... I moved more of the bass boost toward 125 Hz instead, since that seems to give the SomniPods more weight without forcing the lowest frequenci...

What redditors said (10 of 60)

The local mode white noise options are unusable. They’re extremely short loops with multiple seconds of completely dead air when the loop restarts. Also 3/4 of the sounds are locked behind a monthly subscription paywall. If you don’t want to use any of the “sleep sound” features there are *much* cheaper options out there. And if you do want to use them the SomniPods are a ripoff.

After using both, I’d say the SomniPods 3 is one of the more compelling budget-friendly alternatives to the Ozlo Sleepbuds available right now. ... The SomniPods 3 also adds ANC, EQ customization, Find My Earbuds, and touch controls. ... The SomniPods app can feel a little complicated, some of the built-in sounds have noticeable loop points, and battery life drops significantly when ANC is enabled.

Its biggest strengths for me are the low-profile design and actual ANC. ... The ANC is also more useful than simply blasting louder white noise when dealing with traffic, air conditioners, and other steady low-frequency sounds. ... Unfortunately, some of the most basic parts of the experience still need work. The loops in some of the built-in sounds can be noticeable—possibly because the slimmer design leaves less room for local storage—and some of the modes and audio-switching settings aren’t very intuitive.

I’ve been using the SomniPods 3 for that, and the combination works surprisingly well. They sit almost flush with my ears, so I can sleep on my side without feeling them pressing into the pillow, and I can stream my own white noise instead of relying on the built-in sounds.

The 125 Hz bump makes sense to me. It adds a little warmth/body without trying to force a ton of sub-bass, which these tiny sleep buds probably aren't going to do convincingly anyway. I also wouldn't push the upper mids too much, especially if you're listening quietly before bed.

I personally prefer the SomniPods 3 mainly because they sit a little flatter and feel more comfortable when I sleep on my side. They’re definitely not perfect, though. The app takes some getting used to, some of the built-in sounds have noticeable loop points, and the ANC works much better when you get a proper seal.

The SomniPods 3 are much more comfortable for me. They sit flatter in my ears and don’t create as much pressure against the pillow. The ANC combined with brown noise also helps quite a bit with my partner’s snoring, and they have a private in-ear alarm
