I took a chance on the Q800. The truth is I am impressed, totally satisfied with the purchase. I don't have other speakers pulled from various sides and the width of the sound is tremendous, maybe the height is not so noticeable, but I hear a lot of sounds from behind without having a speaker there, and the height and depth of the sound is absolutely incredible. I recommend it with my eyes closed.

Haven’t tried out the 990 but I adore my 800, if that’s any help. Bass and volume are more than enough for my needs, though I sometimes wonder if I would benefit from rear speakers.
