Samsung HW-Q800B
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Samsung HW-Q800B is widely praised as a powerful and balanced soundbar that offers a wide soundstage and a particularly strong, controlled subwoofer. Users frequently highlight its clarity and detail, often comparing it favorably to more expensive competitors from Sonos and LG. While it performs well as a standalone bar and sub, a common sentiment is that adding the SWA-9500S rear speaker kit significantly elevates the experience to a home-theater level.
Pros
- Wide and immersive soundstage even without dedicated rear speakers
- Powerful, deep, and tight subwoofer performance
- Maintains audio clarity and detail at high volumes
- Excellent value, especially when found at discounted price points
Cons
- Can be slightly bass-heavy for some listeners
- Lacks the total immersion found in flagship models like the Q990 series
Caveats
- Most users recommend the SWA-9500S rear speaker kit for a 'night and day' improvement in surround sound
- The evidence is older (median age ~1.5 years), which may impact its standing against the latest hardware releases
Best for
- Large rooms requiring a powerful audio system
- Users seeking a high-quality subwoofer experience
- Buyers looking for a mid-range system with a clear upgrade path via rear speakers
Avoid if
- You want the absolute latest flagship immersion technology
- You prefer a very neutral sound profile without a heavy bass presence
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of 575 days, so confidence is medium for this fast-changing hardware category.

This soundbar is amazing and loud cean and crisp. Best $200 what an upgrade I've been missing out lol. Dolby surround sound is surprising good for not having dedicated speakers on stands. I had to turn down the sub for the neighbors.
For $200 absolutely
The soundbar is pretty powerful IMO, and can be used in much bigger space than my current bedroom.
My experience is I've made the mistake of going q800B with rear speaker kit and for some time I was pretty happy with it.
I've had the Q800B (same Sub as 800D), and I've had the S800B (same sub as 800F), and I'm picking the 800B subwoofer every day of the week and it's not even close.
Ive made this mistake of getting q800B the bought rears separately, when I heard q990D it was like night and day.
I had the Q800B myself before (not quite the 990 but it's the same subwoofer design), it was pretty good.
I own a Q800B with 2 rear speakers
Had the Q800B myself and it was a very strong system all around. Unfortunately I also wouldn't say anything about it fully blew me away.
I have the q800b with the 9500s and it’s great.
