I had only read one novel before I took the n1 (また、同じ夢を見ていた), and I realized that novels are pretty important for a test like this; reading comprehension is more important than anything.

また、同じ夢を見ていた, hands down. Are you familiar with jpdb.io? It's a flashcards website that has decks for specific books. It takes some preparation, but if you learn vocab up to 80-90% coverage before actually reading, you won't need many lookups.

また、同じ夢を見ていた is great. A bit on the easier side.

I read また、同じ夢を見ていた Without giving any spoilers its very cute and somewhat sad story about little girl who has trouble fitting in with her peers and gets advice on how to live a good life from some older people she meets and become friends with.

Other than that I've seen someone here recommend the book また、同じ夢を見ていた which is apparently popular with learners and it's been very charming and easy to understand so far!

It's great! Not the most challenging stuff but I figured better to go with something easier while passively listening. And now I'm halfway through and can mostly follow it.

I've read two books (三日間の幸福 and スターティング・オーヴァー) to completion and read half of また、同じ夢を見ていた.
