Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • I heard good things about HP Omen. Are they good?
  • HP Omen and ROG Zephyrus are my go-to gaming laptop lines since they usually feature better build quality and cooling is adequate.
  • I would go omen because it is a more premium model of HP and will generally have a good build quality and not break down like the victus in my experience.
  • HP Omen with a 16" screen.
  • Here is a prebuilt HP Omen with an RTX 5080, 9800X3D, 32GB DDR5, 2TB storage for ONLY $2499

Cons

  • Can we try to avoid HP or the OMEN series in general? Looking to get a new one because current OMEN series has underlying issues HP wont address.
  • My mate had an Omen last year and the hinge gave out in six months
  • Also Omen is not an enterprise. This is a shit but cheap notebook. More hardware for less money so you can't expect perfect.
  • Also, I am curious: is the HP Omen series really as plagued with chronic issues as people say?
  • I have this bug that Warzone on PS5 feels choppy and sluggish when monitor is on and console comes from sleep. ... this only happens in Warzone and only with my HP Omen monitor

I have seen HP Omen be pretty good on Linux. NVIDIA is NVIDIA on Linux (works but can have quirks or serious bugs in some cases), but other harwdare generally is neat and works on Linux.
