Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • I went for epix on the Christmas Sale. My reasoning was that some people say Fenix 8 is still lacking a bit in the software department with some bugs still present.
  • I have Epix and 570. Both great watches
  • Epix isn't old, served me only 3 years. Data and tracking is all the same and when you don't compare, it still looks and works very good.
  • Epix did everything just as good and with much much clearer texts on overcast days and indoors.
  • Go with the Epix

Cons

  • Not worth it, plus there are no more feature updates for the epix. Only Bugfixes.
  • display wise I find that the fr965 or 970 have a better looking bc the screen border look thinner than the epix
  • Epix's HR would sometimes show unrealistic readings. ... Also always hated how Epix was lagging compared to 7X, which had less pixela to process.
  • The only reason why the epix doesn't get the new UI is garmins marketing.
  • No, the epix has less battery life and more suited for indoor use.

The Epix is a great watch. I have the 42mm sapphire and happy with it.
