If I could be 100% sure that a motherboard upgrade would finally solve the issue, I'd pull the trigger on a B550M immediately.

Yeah a performance boost won’t be noticeable but you normally will have extra features with B550M like an additional M.2 slot, PCIe Gen 4, and some boards will have a Type C header if your PC case supports it
Most B550M boards will have 2x M.2 slots as well, which will be handy when adding more storage whereas A520M for the most part will just have 1
