Pros

  • something like a rose-gold Royal Oak, around the same price range, has an exceptional level of hand-finishing on the case and bracelet, but it doesn’t involve the same historical artisan techniques such as grand feu enamel, hand-engravin...
  • I do think the RO is a legitimate classic and has the history to back up the hype.
  • AP RO. It's the OG, the one which defined a whole new category in watchmaking

Cons

  • Avoid Cowboy and Royal Oak at all costs.
  • Whatever you do, just don't buy Royal Oak
  • I fear that no matter what I get, I’ll constantly chase the Royal Oak, so I should just focus on that.
  • after a bit of time & research with their pre existing rival AP having a integrated watch (the Royal Oak) they came up with this.
  • Both are world class watches obviously, but for me I simply dislike the design of the Royal Oak and love the VC.

something like a rose-gold Royal Oak, around the same price range, has an exceptional level of hand-finishing on the case and bracelet, but it doesn’t involve the same historical artisan techniques such as grand feu enamel, hand-engraving on enamel, or the use of antique tools like the pantograph.

The AP is nice too, but I almost feel that people who don't know watches, or are new to the hobby, see the AP everywhere, on every other celebrity's wrist or garish iced out versions and think "that must be the one!" And they don't look beyond it.

I just don’t think they’re worth the money for a simple time telling (sometimes date) in stainless steel.
