Profitec Go
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Profitec Go is a highly-regarded single-boiler espresso machine praised for its robust build quality, PID temperature control, and external pressure adjustment. It is frequently cited as a significant upgrade from entry-level machines like the Breville Bambino, offering better thermal stability and a more professional feel. However, as a single-boiler machine, it requires a transition period of approximately one minute when switching between brewing and steaming modes, which may frustrate users who prioritize back-to-back milk-based drinks.
Pros
- Robust build quality with professional-grade components like the portafilter and baskets
- Integrated PID for precise temperature control and easy pressure adjustment
- Relatively fast heat-up time and a compact footprint suitable for smaller kitchens
- Upgradeable firmware, which is a rare feature for machines in this class
- Excellent aesthetic options, including matte finishes and wood accent kits
Cons
- Single-boiler workflow requires a wait time (approx. 1 minute) to switch between brewing and steaming
- Limited vertical clearance between the portafilter and drip tray, necessitating the use of smaller cups
- Occasional issues with 'soggy' coffee pucks or water pooling in the basket despite the three-way solenoid
- Some reports of quality control issues upon delivery, such as wobbly feet or cosmetic scratches
Caveats
- The workflow involves 'faffing around' to transition between modes, which is inherent to single-boiler designs.
- While shot quality is high, some users feel the jump from a PID-equipped entry-level machine may not always justify the price for everyone.
- Data includes some noise from unrelated products sharing the 'Go' name (watches and apps).
Best for
- Home baristas seeking a durable, high-precision machine for espresso-only or occasional milk drinks
- Users with limited counter space who want professional features like PID and pressure control
Avoid if
- You primarily make multiple lattes or cappuccinos in a row and want instant steam
- You prefer using tall mugs directly under the portafilter
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~420 days) and includes some name-collision noise from other categories, so confidence is medium.

A Eureka Mignon Specialita grinder and a Profitec Go machine will cost you around $1500. The difference in the quality of the coffee, compared to your current setup, will be outstanding.
Parent context: I think the profitec Go has had 5 different firmware upgrades. What you get depends on how long you wait. Reply: I haven't researched the Go much and wasn't aware it has upgradeable firmware. That's a nice added benefit.
Eaxact same setup to the colorway. You'll love it. The Go os such a competent little machine.
There are plenty of great machines in that price bracket (Profitec Go, Odyssey Argos, Lelit Victoria, or even pure lever espresso machines like the Flair 58 or Cafelat Robot)
I like my Go (the single boiler version of the Move). The only thing I miss is volumetric dosing.
Going from a breville to a silvia PID or a profitec GO is not worth the money.
Love my Go. I'd suggest playing around with releasing pressure via the steam wand so you can do manual preinfusions.
Then with 1k get a Profitec go (you can easily find for 1k) then with the left over 200 buy cheap everything else
The Profitec GO looks proper slick next to that Niche
