Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Tissot PRX is widely regarded as a benchmark for entry-level integrated bracelet watches, praised for its value, sapphire crystal, and seamless design. While it remains a "crowd pleaser" and a staple in many collections, sentiment is increasingly mixed as the market becomes saturated with competitors and some enthusiasts feel the design has become overly common or trendy.

Pros

  • High-quality integrated bracelet with a seamless case-to-bracelet transition
  • Excellent value proposition in its price range
  • Features sapphire glass
  • Attractive aesthetic, including the popular waffle dial and gold quartz options
  • Strong brand respect and considered a staple for most collections

Cons

  • Ubiquity makes it feel less unique to some collectors
  • Integrated bracelet design limits traditional strap swapping
  • Sizing and fit can be polarizing compared to newer competitors like Citizen

Caveats

  • The market for integrated bracelet watches has grown significantly, leading to many 'clones' and alternatives that users now frequently compare against the PRX.
  • Some users feel the 'trendiness' of the form factor is beginning to fade.

Best for

  • Entry-level luxury watch collectors
  • Fans of 1970s-style integrated sports watches
  • Those looking for a reliable, high-value daily wearer

Avoid if

  • You want a unique watch that isn't widely seen in the enthusiast community
  • You prefer frequently changing your watch straps
  • You find the specific case dimensions of the PRX uncomfortable compared to newer alternatives

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 601 days, which may not fully reflect the most recent competitive releases in the watch market.

Yes, I think the same thing about the PRX and it's clones.

I’m considering switching out the PRX for a better integrated bracelet watch

Terrific value and better sized compared to a PRX.

Besides that there’s also the matter of the date window which might not appeal to all and the different texture for the case and the bracelet, where the PRX is basically seamless between case and bracelet.

I made this exact choice last week, I just thought the prx looked better. I preferred the waffle dial, and I didn't want the 3 letter day on it. I also wanted the lighter color of steel vs the darker titanium.

Beats the PRX for me. Sure, the PRX was a bit of a trailblazer at this price range in the beginning, but now that this form factor isn’t as “trendy” anymore, that shouldn’t matter much.
