Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Inovelli, Hue, Zooz, Aqara all have switches that you can put into decoupled/"smart bulb" mode and it doesn't actually switch the power, it just acts as a smart switch
  • Also Zooz (as an example) has a 5 year warranty on all products.
  • I personally am a big fan of Zooz. Very solid and long battery life.
  • They are the best customer service I have come around. Been a long time customer. Mostly all my hardware is zooz.
  • Zooz has been my new favorite as they are the most supported I have found.

Cons

  • The Zooz stuff is so frequently "half off" that it seems more like normal price, and if it is not you should wait and not buy it. Their regular prices are totally out of control!
  • Yes, I looked at the Lutron and some other brand zooz or something. The price for one is like the price of 4 at these companies. Moreover, they also require a central hub which is an added cost!
  • I think Zooz does a poor job of explaining or advertising the functionality for people who want dimming/scene control at multiple locations.
  • Paying a smart switch price twice for a single light is a valid complaint, but so is only being to dim from one position. Also the Zooz works in a 4-way setup which I don't recall seeing from other manufacturers
  • zooz needs a neutral wire.

So I'm that respect, Inovelli and Zooz can both also use just one smart dimmer and the rest auxiliary. They can also both work without neutral if needed (but work netted with one of you have one). But it's the level of customization you can do that's where they really shine.

Inovelli wins this battle hands down. Second, Zooz. Third, Lutron.
