Zerno Z1

Pros

• I’m looking for light roasts that shine on the Zerno Z1 if anyone has fun recommendations!
• You can improve the taste by a long mile by getting a grinder with minimal retention: Mazzer Philos, Zerno z1 or any other 64mm flat burr grinder that is designed for single dosing...
• A Zerno Z1 with blind SSP burrs (e.g. HU) just fits your budget. $1,400 would be a bare-bones price with non-blind Mazzer burrs.
• My understanding is that the key benefit of the Z1 is its ease of changing burrs. If you want to explore the world of alternate burrs, it's the machine to get.
• I had a z1 it’s great

Cons

• I was strongly considering the VS6 before buying my Zerno.
• I've heard both good and bad things about the Z1 (mainly to do with the noise and long lead times, although the lead times seem to be significantly reduced from what they used to be)
• So what's the upgrade path from the DF64? Just straight to a Mazzer Philos or a Zerno?
• Zerno long wait, if not in US may have to pay higher tariffs pricing. More expensive as you start adding options like slow auger if that is important to you.
• Check out zerno Z1. Similar shape to the philos but smaller and similar price point. Just as an alternative...
