Xfx rx 7900 gre
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The XFX RX 7900 GRE is a well-regarded GPU for 1440p gaming, praised for its strong raw rasterization performance and quiet operation. Users frequently position it as a 'brute force' alternative to Nvidia's 4070 Super, offering high frame rates in traditional rendering, though it is acknowledged to fall behind in ray tracing and upscaling technology (FSR vs. DLSS).
Pros
- Strong rasterization performance, often outperforming competitors in its price bracket.
- Quiet cooling solution; fans reportedly remain idle or kick in sporadically even during long sessions.
- Capable of maintaining 80+ FPS at 1440p Ultra settings in many titles.
- Versatile physical dimensions that fit well in various case sizes, including MFFPC builds.
Cons
- Ray tracing performance is notably weaker than Nvidia alternatives.
- AMD's FSR upscaling is generally viewed as inferior to Nvidia's DLSS.
- High power consumption when overclocked, with reports of up to 330W draw.
Caveats
- Regional availability can be spotty, particularly in markets like India.
- While some users report success with 650W power supplies, the card can pull significant power under load.
- The 'Nitro+' and 'Hellhound' variants are often mentioned alongside XFX, suggesting a competitive market with slight variations in cooler performance.
Best for
- 1440p gamers who prioritize high frame rates over ray tracing features.
- Builders seeking a quiet system that stays cool under multi-hour gaming loads.
- Users looking for a high-performance GPU for 'brute force' rasterization.
Avoid if
- Ray tracing performance is a primary requirement for your gaming experience.
- You heavily rely on DLSS for upscaling and frame generation.
- You are working with a very strict power budget and cannot accommodate potential 300W+ spikes.
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~592 days), which may limit its accuracy regarding current driver optimizations or market pricing for this hardware.

Thing runs really quiet (which is a welcome change from my old rig) and fans only kick in sporadically after multi-hour gaming sessions.
if your just gaming the gre the better option out of the 2 tbh dlss is the only thing better but amd has fsr tho although not as good as dlss gre should still be able to get 80+ fps on 1440p ultra more on high
Got a 7900 GRE hellhound and a Corsair rm750x 2023.
My old rig was 12400 + DDR4 RAM+ 7900GRE (much faster raster performance).
I used to have i5 12400 + 7900GRE (much faster raster performance vs 9060XT)
If your budget is 1 lakh you can get a 7800xt or 7900 gre ( if you can find one )
