WD Red

Pros

• I would opt for a NAS drive or a Enterprise drive. WD Red, Gold, HGST drives, Seagate Iron Wolf / Pro or Exos. Yes they cost more but are better optimised and I think should be better for the long run when running 24/7.
• I just realized my 4x4TB WD Red drives are 10 years old.
• 3 x 2 TB WD Red in ZFS
• I got one a while back to house my NAS's old WD Red drives when I got larger drives. *Very* basic, but it gets the job done.
• Im running WD Red + in my nas. Just started though but they seem decent enough.

Cons

• Ubiquiti confirmed a firmware issue in the NAS line with WD Red drives recently in another thread, so perhaps you’ve hit another one.
• The 26 TB was sealed in the bag but there was a lot of slack in the bag. Then the faded poor quality label and the 2 big dents. Plus the chug chug brreapp chug chug sounds. And WD has no record for the serial number.
• I have 6x 3tb WD Red, that i'm trying to find a use for. Either cold storage or landfill.
• WD Red, WD Red Pro, WD UltraStar, Seagate IronWolf, Seagate IronWolf Pro, Seagate Exos, Toshiba N300, Toshiba N300 Pro, Toshiba MG. Most mechanical NAS drives fall under these lines.
• So they got repainted to Red, which many people think are something special but they started as "shut up about performance, anyway your NAS is slower than that" (as most NASes wouldn't do even gigabit). And yes, early Red had the head pa...
