Pros

  • I have two WD SN770s (3 tb total) I think and they’re perfectly fast enough.
  • There are the WD Black SN770 and SN7100, and both are entirely reasonable SSDs, especially if you can find one for $120.
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD (Samsung 980 PRO or WD Black SN770) — $60–69
  • Brands: WD Black SN770, Samsung 990, Crucial P3 Plus
  • 1 tb gen 4 SSD (maybe WD SN770)

Cons

  • 2 NVME drives - Boot being on a Kingston A2000 and storage on WD SN770
  • * SSD: 2TB wd black sn770, 1TB wd black sn7100
  • If you’re buying WD for long-term peace of mind, think again. The '5-year warranty' doesn't seem to exist in practice here.
  • It turns out, that warranty is just marketing fluff. ... The drive hits 86°C under load—a clear safety risk.

If you were going closer to the lower end around 1000, I’d probably recommend something like a Ryzen 5 7600 for the CPU, an RTX 4060 or RX 7600 for the graphics card, 16GB or ideally 32GB of DDR5 RAM, a 1TB NVMe SSD like a Samsung 980 or WD SN770, a B650 motherboard, a 650 watt power supply from Corsair or EVGA, and just a normal airflow case like a Phanteks or NZXT H5 Flow.
