Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI)

The Boglehead philosophy is simple, you need 3 funds: a U.S. total market fund like VTI, which will likely be ~60% of your portfolio.

mostly have been putting extra cash into VOO/VTI/VXUS sorts of things.

I would either 1. (Low risk option) put it in a HYSA and leave it alone. 2. (Higher risk option) Or invest in some index funds. VOO, VTI, FXAIX are all very good and popular options.

VTI (VTSAX) or VT and forget about it. You'll vastly, vastly outperform Edward Jones.

I'd probably dollar cost average into the market over the next year at something like a 70/30 mix of VTI (stocks) and BND (bonds).

I'd diversify into a total stock market index like VTI.

If not, do that, then I'd throw the rest in a brokerage invested in VOO or VTI and let it sit and compound.

VTI and chill here. I'm told we must now fight to the death or something.

Person A: Put all their extra money into tax advantaged accounts until they were full, then invested in taxable brokerages putting all their money in low cost index funs like VT or VTI.

60k per year invested in something like a total stock market index such as VTI should grow to something like $2.5-3M easily over 20-25 years.
