Timecode is extremely important. Just buy a tentacle sync set up. They’re reasonably priced and always work.

And the 3rd party platforms will be museum pieces and long out of support. I'd personally be surprised if you'll get 10 years professional use out of them.
For the tentacle sync specifically, no probably not, because worst case, you can always jam them back into sync from another source without using the app. It may be that down the line, you need to pick up some other device to control it, or keep an old phone kicking around to run the app
