Soundcore Sleep A20
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Soundcore Sleep A20 is a polarizing sleep-focused earbud that prioritizes a low-profile fit for side sleepers, but suffers from significant reported reliability issues. While many users praise its comfort and ability to mask environmental noise like snoring or barking dogs using white noise, a substantial number of owners report rapid battery degradation and hardware failures. It lacks active noise canceling (ANC), relying instead on passive isolation and a library of local sleep sounds to drown out disturbances.
Pros
- Extremely low-profile design that is generally comfortable for side sleepers.
- Effective white noise masking that helps users sleep through loud environments.
- Local sleep sound mode allows for playback without a continuous Bluetooth connection.
- Includes an app-based equalizer to adjust sound profiles.
Cons
- High rate of reported defects, including earbuds failing to connect or charge.
- Significant battery life deterioration reported after several months of use.
- No Active Noise Canceling (ANC); passive blocking may be insufficient for some.
- Sound quality is frequently described as tinny or mediocre for music.
Caveats
- Some users report that specific software updates permanently damaged their battery life.
- The outer rubber wings can occasionally slip off or become difficult to reattach in the dark.
- Fit is subjective; while many find them flat, some side sleepers still experience ear pressure or find they fall out overnight.
Best for
- Side sleepers who need a very small earbud that doesn't protrude.
- Users who prefer masking noise (white/brown noise) over active cancellation.
- People looking for a dedicated sleep earbud at a lower price point than premium competitors.
Avoid if
- You require Active Noise Canceling (ANC) for silence rather than masking.
- You want a long-lasting product with a consistent track record of battery health.
- You are an audiophile sensitive to thin or tinny sound signatures.
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 284 days, which may not reflect the most recent hardware revisions or software patches.

They are fine for sleeping.
I found the a10 and a20 did not do much passive noise blocking, mostly it seems they were just designed to overcome it with white noise.
Parent context: Could you please clarify why you found them uncomfortable? Did they put pressure on your ears, or did they not stay in place well? Reply: I couldn’t get them to lay flat in my ears so when I was on my side, they stuck out enough to be uncomfortable.
I just bought and returned a pair. They weren’t comfortable for my ears (which are admittedly finicky) and I found the app confusing. I also didn’t find them better than my $35 loop earplugs for drowning out my snoring bedmate.
Soundcore a20 works like a charm for me.
I tried all kinds of sleep TWS (Bose, Soubdcore a20 and a30, 1MORE comfobuds zzz) and none of them really did the trick
I also find the A20 more comfortable than the A30. But battery behavior on the 20 has become erratic unfortunately
Honestly I love my A20’s. They are comfortable, you can mix a lot of sounds and download up to 4 mixes/sounds into them. They last all night. They’re comfortable.
I used the A20s for 2 years and mostly loved them until they got bricked… BUT when they worked, they were so much more smart and reliable and even had more functionality/customization imo. The app is the same but the UI for controlling them is different (A20 ‘s is much better somehow).
I still have a use case for A20 but it feels like a cheap product sold for a lot (paid 110 EUR but also got a backup pair recently due to charging issues, so that shluld last me a few more years)
