Pros

  • Overall, it’s one of the most complete Mini-LED monitors I’ve tested around this price, especially when it comes to color gamut, HDR brightness and gaming versatility.
  • 399€ for 1196 zones is a pretty sweet deal

Cons

  • Tried it. Tried messing with contrast as well, but it was still way too much. This was sdr.
  • Parent context: Yes, it makes the images look very bright. Reply: Yeah, I am returning it to the store today. I was playing tarkov, and the sky appeared so bright it was actually hurting my eyes lol.
  • For me the whites on this monitor are like looking at the sun, way too bright.
  • The main thing TCL still needs to improve is the Local Dimming algorithm, especially how aggressively it handles very small highlights in SDR and near-black detail in extremely dark HDR scenes.
  • Parent context: Sorry, are you saying the C2A Pro is worse than the 27R94 (which is also worse than the 27R83)? Reply: The C2A / C2A Pro have pretty similar dimming based on some other comments here, and they definitely have the same pan...

The TCL 27C2A is a decent monitor but its unusual specs (IPS HFS Shoot, 1196 zones) are not able to set it apart from the 1152 zone models (KTC M27P6, MSI E16M etc) we have seen last year and are priced very similar. The BOE ADS-IPS panels in other current models seem to be a bit more matured than CSOTs new effort.

This monitor unfortunately does add horizontal blur in dual mode which makes it even more blurry compared to a native 1080p monitor.

Compared to both the AOC and the iPhone, the TCL often looked washed out, almost like it was missing contrast. ... Overall, though, the AOC produced an image that felt much more dynamic and three-dimensional, while the TCL often looked flatter by comparison. ... I've already returned the TCL
