Spirit/Frontier can be dirt cheap if you travel light
If someone asked me what airlines are best in the US I would tell them to 100% steer clear of Spirit.
I have had better experiences flying Spirit for 1/4 of the price.

I’m looking at booking CMH-MIA-INTERNATIONAL (Spirit) with a 1 hour 25 minute layover in Miami. Under normal conditions, that seems like a reasonable connection time, especially if it’s all on one itinerary.
First (and last) time trying to fly Spirit. Flight got canceled due to unknown reasons. The line for customer service is thousands of bodies long. On top of it, I've never seen this level of rudeness from employees anywhere ever, it's absolutely insane.
I can’t even find flights to other places in the US for under $400 if I am not looking at Spirit.
For example something happens and you miss a return flight, many airlines (Air France, Delta, Spirit are ones I know of) that can and very much will charge you for the cost of another return ticket.
Fly Frontier or Spirit.
