AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Scythe Fuma 3 is a dual-tower air cooler highly regarded for its beginner-friendly installation and specific design choices that favor compatibility. Users frequently highlight its offset, recessed design which provides excellent clearance for tall RAM modules and its relatively short 154mm height. While generally considered quiet in standard use, it may become loud when fans are pushed to their limit to maintain aggressive temperature targets under full load.

Pros

  • Excellent RAM clearance due to an offset/recessed heat sink design.
  • Compact 154mm height fits in many mid-sized cases.
  • Easier and more straightforward installation process compared to AIO liquid coolers.
  • Competitive pricing, with mentions of it being found between $27 and $50.

Cons

  • Fans can become notably loud when running at high speeds to maintain temperatures below 80°C under full load.

Caveats

  • Thermal performance and noise levels are linked; users may need to balance fan curves if they prioritize silence over maximum cooling.

Best for

  • Builders using tall RAM modules who want to see their memory.
  • Small to mid-sized cases with a 154mm CPU cooler height limit.
  • Beginner builders looking for a reliable alternative to liquid cooling.

Avoid if

  • You require near-silent operation during sustained, heavy multi-core workloads.
  • You prefer the aesthetics or peak thermal headroom of a large AIO liquid cooler.

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is based on a small sample of 11 mentions from r/buildapc with a median age of 195 days, reflecting older but stable feedback for this hardware.

I bought a Scythe Fuma 3 for $27 a few weeks ago. I'm recommending that because you say you're a beginner, and AIOs are more steps to install.

Maybe the Scythe Fuma 3 if it's available. It is a dual tower cooler with a recessed design so that RAM is unaffected. It's 154mm tall.

Something like the [Scythe Fuma 3](https://www.scytheus.com/fuma-3) or [Thermalright Royal Knight](https://www.thermalright.com/product/royal-knight-120-black/) coolers should suit that setup. They are dual tower air coolers that have an offset design with the front fan recessed so that you have full clearance for the RAM.

I’m realizing that my CPU radiatior (Scythe Fuma 3) fans are pretty loud if I want to keep my temps at 80 or below under full load.

I've currently put the standard Scythe cooling paste that came with the Fuma 3, but I have some Arctic MX-7 I can put too, but I don't know if that'd help much.

If you want true RAM clearance and can see the RAM, Scythe Fuma 3. A few years old but it won't cover your RAM.
