It is certainly more “linear” and book-like. Scrivener is a very good writing environment, ie, corkboard, outlining, scrivenings and full screen composition mode.

Never ever had that issue with Scrivener.
For writing lengthy projects, I recommend Scrivener. Not sure how much it costs now, but it was a game changer for writing & editing my dissertation. Basically paid for itself. You can upload PDF's and other media (for research & reference) and very easily navigate / manipulate / organize and format big writing projects with no lag or distractions.
