Parent context: I hear, for horrendous, small, highly reflective/"lively" indoor spaces, the Sanken CS-3e might be worth checking out? Some omni capsule design that has great rejection/isolation at the cost of natural sound, but versatile for indoor. Reply: FWIW, I’ve been getting away with incredible results from my CS3 indoors. Normally, I wouldn’t use it indoors, but the specific circumstances of my most recent gig sorta forced me to have it for both indoor and outdoor situations. The result is certainly a bit “unnatural”, but I’ve found for doc and commercial work this sound is exactly what post is looking for.

Sanken CS-3E. It has insane rejection (and no rear lobe!)

CS3e, but also talk to the post team, because it should be pretty easy to paint out a boom for LED volume filming depending on how post and the screen engineers have everything setup.

Sanken CS-3e seems to get more and more popular every year. Insane rejection and sounds good enough.

It's used in conjunction with a Sanken CS-3e, and a few Schoeps mics (CMIT and MK41s).

CS3e is great for louder environments.

I'd start with very low expectations...and use a Sanken CS-3e microphone. It's very directional and that could be really helpful to you. I've used it in factories and noisy streets and gotten decent tracks.

If you won't have too much room issues (as in low ceiling etc) maybe rent a Sanken CS3e? It's such a laser and also doesn't have a rear lobe so in theory you should be able to squeeze just a little bit directionality from a soundwave saturated environment?
