RTX 4070 Super
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The RTX 4070 Super is widely regarded as a "sweet spot" GPU for 1440p gaming and productivity tasks like video editing. Users frequently highlight its strong value proposition, particularly in the used market where it is often compared favorably to newer hardware like the RTX 5070. While it excels at high-refresh 1440p gaming, some users note it can struggle with ultra settings in the most demanding new titles or at resolutions beyond 1440p.
Pros
- Excellent 1440p performance for high/max settings in modern titles
- Strong value-to-performance ratio, especially in the $450-$550 price bracket
- Highly capable for productivity, featuring NVENC for encoding and CUDA for editing
- Efficiently pairs with mid-range CPUs without significant bottlenecking
- Access to NVIDIA features like DLSS and Frame Generation
Cons
- 12GB VRAM is considered a potential limitation compared to higher-tier or competing cards
- May struggle to maintain stable FPS on 'Ultra' settings in some cutting-edge games at 1440p
- Insufficient power for 4K or 5K gaming
Caveats
- Performance is often cited as being nearly identical to the newer RTX 5070, though it lacks specific multi-framegen technology
- Used market prices vary significantly, with reported deals ranging from $300 to $500
Best for
- 1440p gamers looking for high frame rates
- Content creators needing NVENC and CUDA support for editing and encoding
- Users upgrading from older mid-range cards seeking a significant performance leap
Avoid if
- You demand 'Ultra' settings at 4K resolution
- You require more than 12GB of VRAM for specific workloads or future-proofing
- You have the budget for higher-tier cards like the 5080 for significantly better 1440p/4K performance

4070 Super
my rtx 4070 super can t handle ultra setting in this new game with stable fps on 1440p so i wonder if it s good choice to upgrade my gpu to 5080 for 1440p or even 4k !
Then it makes sense. I completely understand wanting to get away from AMD. It’s worth it for that alone
For 1440p gaming plus editing on the Ultra 5 250K the RTX 4070 Super is the sweet spot. Great 1440p gaming performance, excellent NVENC for video encoding, and CUDA handles editing workloads really well. The 250K is a strong CPU so it won't bottleneck you at all.

$550+: RTX 4070 Super, best value in that tier right now
Maybe I can sale you a PC with a Ryzen 9, 32gb of ram, 1000W Titanum power supply, 2tb of Samsung 990 Pro and a RTX 4070S
Only thing I’d say is the RTX 5060 might be the weak spot for a $1500–$1700 budget. If you can bump that up to something like a 4070 Super / 5070, you’ll get way more value and it’ll last longer.
The only thing I’d maybe rethink is the RTX 5060. It’ll work fine, but if you can stretch the budget even a little, something like a 5060 Ti / 4070 Super / 5070 would give you a way bigger jump in performance and last longer.
Something like an RTX 4070 Super can be found for around 600€ if you’re lucky on eBay, and it’ll be a night-and-day difference compared to whatever weaker new GPU you’ve picked.
