Pros

  • Pax Pamir 2e, Pax Renaissance, and Eclipse 2nd Dawn all work (though the teach for Pax Ren will take nearly an hour).
  • John Company might be Cole's magnum opus, but it earns that title for scale and scope and storytelling. It's a great sandbox for interaction and negotiation, but I personally value the tightness of Pax Pamir 2E and consider it the better...
  • Yes. It is one of my favourite games ever. The design is brilliant and the production design is one incredible in the second edition (especially if you get the metal coins)
  • Fantastic game. Truly truly brilliant elegant design
  • In either of the above cases, yes, it's a very solid game with lots of diverse tactics, mind games, and emergent strategy.

Cons

  • Seems like you're interested in wargames too, have you ever considered **Pax Viking** or **Pax Pamir 2E**?

100% worth it. It's a great game with medium set of rules and high depth. Maybe the theme doesnt sound interesting, but it's rooted in history (mostly people being assholes) and the components are lovely.

Pax Pamir 2e is Cole Wehrle's best game, and is absolutely worth $50-60.
