Pros

  • About 10 years ago, I updgraded my PC and got a 5930K on an Asus X99A with a 980Ti. This system is really still perfoming well for what I need
  • maybe gtx 1080ti or 980ti
  • When the 4790k was released, the best card to pair with it would've been a 980 and later 980ti.
  • My GPU's 8500 GT, 8800 GTS, GTS 250, GTX 560, GTX 760, GTX 980 TI, RX 6900 XT and since last week a RX 9070 XT.
  • I currently have a hand-me-down Gigabyte G1 GTX 980ti that's in good condition

Cons

  • I would also consider replacing the 980ti. You can probably find some second-hand GPUs on the cheap.
  • Is the 980ti considered old and bad now?
  • Well, from a performance standpoint, very questionable. If the 980 Ti is offered at stupid, crazy cheap price...then that's a different story. Who cares about a bottleneck at that point.
  • I have a GTX 980 Ti with 2 8-sockets but my psu only has 2 6-plugs and a 2-plug. Its an EPS-750W psu, is it safe to just insert a 6+2 into one socket and a 6 into the other one?
  • 980ti is considered old now, yes. I wouldn't look below a rtx 20 series.
