Pros
- If the company is Natera, it is $250 if you choose not to bill insurance. For me, it was totally worth it for the peace of mind and to find out the gender early!
Cons
- Parent context: I hear you about it being our responsibility to know about what insurance covers but looking at this thread it seem that almost no insurance covers it…. So the doctors must know that most don’t and could at least give us...
- Is this Natera? They suck.
- Yes it’s natera and they do this to everyone.
- My insurance wouldn’t cover it with my first pregnancy and Natera didn’t have their financial aid program back then so I couldn’t afford it out of pocket.
- They tried to bill me $8k for testing, saying that I had to have lost 2 pregnancies to have insurance cover it. Well I had lost 2 at that point (and later 3). Fought with them and insurance company for almost 6 months but finally got it...

Had the same experience; saw the other post, waited for my bill which was $787. My doc quoted me $400-500. I asked Natera for an itemized bill, which they said they would only provide after being paid in full
Parent context: Yes and they said since they ran it through my insurance that there’s nothing else they can do, “but at least you’ll meet your deductible quicker”. Overall very annoying experience Reply: They said the same thing to me but you have to keep pushing. Ask to be transferred to a higher up rep and they can adjust it.

Overall very annoying experience Reply: They tried to do that to me, but I stood firm and said “I will not pay any amount higher than $249” and they managed to change it.
I called 4 times back in Octoberand they absolutely wouldn’t budge on price!
