AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The MSI PRO B650M-A WiFi is frequently recommended as a 'value king' for the AM5 platform, praised for its stability and essential feature set at a competitive price point. While it is considered a reliable 'barebones' option that includes WiFi 6E and 2.5G LAN, it lacks high-end features like PCIe 5.0 for graphics cards. User experiences are generally positive regarding the BIOS and VRMs, though some have encountered significant stability issues when attempting to use RAM EXPO profiles.

Pros

  • Excellent value for the price, often cited as a top budget AM5 choice
  • Stable BIOS and solid VRM performance for its class
  • Includes modern connectivity like WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and 2.5G LAN
  • Future-proof AM5 socket support

Cons

  • Reported issues with RAM EXPO profiles failing to boot at 5600MT/s and 6000MT/s
  • Lacks PCIe 5.0 support for graphics cards, which some competitors offer at similar prices
  • Considered a 'barebones' board with limited extra features

Caveats

  • Users may need to troubleshoot DRAM debug LEDs or manually tune memory if standard EXPO profiles fail
  • Check for B650E or B850 alternatives if PCIe 5.0 for GPUs is a priority for your build

Best for

  • Budget-conscious AM5 builders
  • Users who need integrated WiFi and Bluetooth without a premium price tag
  • Standard productivity or gaming builds that don't require PCIe 5.0

Avoid if

  • You require PCIe 5.0 for future-proofing your graphics card
  • You want a high-end board with extensive overclocking or enthusiast features

For the motherboard, be sure to check if there's any B850 or B650E chipset motherboards with PCIe5 graphics card slots for the same price or less versus your current selection. It's not critical (similar to the 9600X), but it's a nice-to-have feature, and you can commonly get a board with a PCIe5 graphics card slot for the same price or less.

MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI. *Is the Wi-Fi version worth the extra cost, or should I get a non-WiFi board and add a PCIe card later?*
