Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

MSI Center is generally viewed negatively by users, who describe it as intrusive bloatware that is difficult to install and prone to breaking system features. It is frequently cited for causing conflicts with other software and disrupting RGB lighting configurations.

Pros

  • Provides a centralized interface for MSI-specific hardware adjustments
  • Offers basic control over system lighting and components

Cons

  • Intrusive installation behavior, including attempts to auto-install on Windows boot
  • Replaces user wallpapers with promotional content without permission
  • Clunky, slow, and prone to buggy updates
  • Frequently breaks RGB lighting settings or causes them to stop responding entirely
  • Conflicts with third-party software like SignalRGB and other system drivers
  • Difficult to uninstall completely, sometimes requiring specialized cleaner tools

Caveats

  • Users report that even after uninstallation, RGB settings may remain broken or stuck
  • Driver conflicts are a reported risk that may impact system stability

Best for

  • Users who require specific MSI hardware features that cannot be controlled via BIOS or third-party tools

Avoid if

  • You prefer a lightweight system without background bloatware
  • You use third-party RGB control software like SignalRGB
  • You are sensitive to software that modifies system settings like wallpapers without consent

I’m not a fan of the BIOS but they make some of the best motherboard hardware wise. Also less issues.

I can say that MSI center could use work, it was a bitch to install correctly. And it still is kinda clunky and slow sometimes, and updates can bug out.

MSI Center that tries to install itself the moment Windows boot-up is just slightly above. The installation even comes with "free wallpaper" that replace my own.....
