Pros

  • I’m using a Minisforum MS-01. It has 2x 10G SFP+, 2x 2.5G RJ45.
  • I’m running a MS-01 for 7 months now in a Proxmox cluster with an IntelNUC and a qdevice. The MS-01 is a perfect device.
  • Minisforum is working on a NVME board for their MS-01, pretty sure it expands the typical 3 M.2 drives out into 8....
  • If you do want to tinker just a bit I would suggest a minisform ms-01 with proxmox on it, and plex in an LXC. There are plenty of tutorials online for this that are very step by step.
  • Two are MS-01 systems from Minisforum, and one is a 1U rack mount server I built expressly to run Plex.

Cons

  • What I do not like is that the company has to 16gb memory modules vs. one 32gb. I don't know why companies do this?
  • My main suggestion is to be careful adding M.2 storage, watch some youtube demos before attempting it, the fan housing is kind of a pain to remove and reinstall.
  • My early production unit was DOA, I sent it back to Amazon and got an immediate replacement. I have heard stories about Minisforum taking forever to replace DOA machines bought direct.
