miniDSP Flex

Pros
- Parent context: Your sub has an inherent 6ms processing delay. Given its placement you should most likely be delaying your main L/R speakers for time alignment. Something the flex can easily do! Reply: Wow your comment made me realize I...
- I recently got a Minidsp Flex just for this. You have the freedom to make a digital crossover (high pass to mains, low pass filter to sub), make a PEQ with REW and load it in for a flatter response (or Harman curve or similar).
- Minidsp flex with a Dirac license
- i integrated with a miniDSP flex, umik-1, and REW - i am extremely happy both with the results and integration process which was enlightening for me, but not endlessly & frustratingly complicated.
- The DAC in the miniDSP Flex is very good, but there is so much redundancy in connecting a Wiim Ultra to a Flex that I don't see the point.
Cons
- I think the bigger limitation on the miniDSP is it's format decoding abilities rather than the DAC
- Anyway, you can use the digital connection to the minidsp, but there's no automatic switching. You'd ould need to use the minidsp remote to change the active input.
- So a WiiM Ultra feeds a miniDSP Flex which handles bass management for the PC-2000 Pro and applies DIRAC Live, and feeds a Luxsin X9 above the crossover.

Reply: Wow your comment made me realize I had things messed up. I put the delay towards the mains, made new Dirac measurements and am now amazed by the tightness of the bass.

Its DAC is great.

The DAC is fine.
a smaller system in a 15x12 room that’s running only digital and a MiniDSP Flex as a pre-amp, and the difference is staggering, all positive, in both rooms.
Now the WiiM goes to my MiniDSP Flex which also has volume control. Both options are good and eliminate the need for a laptop.
