miniDSP

Pros
- Also, consider tactile transducers (Dayton Audio, Aurasound bass shakers). Run it with a miniDSP to crossover with your subs and you’ll get a real home theater experience.
- An external DSP like miniDSP operates at 0.01 ms resolution and gives direct control over delay, phase, polarity, and crossover behavior.
- The difference I got between Audyssey, then A1 Evo Acoustica and the A1 Evo + MSO + MiniDSP is very noticeable. There is no way I could have manually dialed in the result I ended up with.
- My understanding is that it basically achieves the level of bass control and sub to main integration that you can get with a MiniDSP without actually needing a MiniDSP.
- I put a minidsp with Dirac in one of my cars. I played Bennie and the Jets right after the 30 minute configuration. My jaw was left hanging. The imaging was incredible.
Cons
- Nope, I wouldn't get a miniDSP anything if you're using SVS/Tonewinner subwoofers and a Denon X3800H. It's largely unnecessary here.
- While doing research I would want Direc Live with the minidsp if I were to purchase it and from previous experience its a royal pain in the butt to get the license through minidsp's site.

Parent context: Thanks for this it does seem the minidsp is the better option. But if you don't want to use rew for time alignment for tuning can you use direc live on the minidsp for auto tuning instead using rew because I'm really not that smart with audio? Reply: Thanks for this it does seem the minidsp is the better option.
MiniDSP would get you up to 4 subs with specific calibration control for each one off a single AVR subwoofer output.
I would buy a calibrated mic from minidsp to use with Dirac.
