AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Lian Li A3 Wood is a popular Micro-ATX case praised for its aesthetic appeal and surprising internal volume. Users generally report that it offers better-than-expected thermals and component compatibility, though it requires careful fan configuration and cable management to reach its full potential.

Pros

  • Attractive wood front panel aesthetic
  • Spacious enough to fit large GPUs like the 7900 XTX
  • Versatile PSU mounting allows for front-intake configurations
  • Compact footprint suitable for living room or M-ATX builds
  • Satisfactory thermal performance under load when properly configured

Cons

  • Difficult or non-existent cable management
  • Potential for high idle CPU temperatures without optimized airflow
  • Front wood panel version is typically more expensive than the standard mesh model
  • Some configurations may lack a mesh side panel option

Caveats

  • The airflow benefit of the wood front panel is debated, as a front-mounted PSU can block a significant portion of the intake
  • Optimal cooling often requires specific fan setups, such as rear intake or top exhaust
  • The wood panel version may have limited availability or long lead times compared to standard models

Best for

  • Builders transitioning from ATX to smaller form factors
  • Aesthetic-focused living room PC builds
  • Users who want a compact case that doesn't sacrifice high-end GPU compatibility

Avoid if

  • You prioritize easy cable management
  • You are looking for the most cost-effective mesh case available
  • You prefer a tool-less or highly beginner-friendly building experience

I am getting this case for a living room pc... was sorta having buyer's remorse with it instead of waiting on the SteamMachine, but I think I'm going to be happy with it in the end.

Lian Li A3 Wood (Sadly, only glass panel. No mesh) ...But I was unhappy with the idle CPU temps (reaching 60) so I planned this airflow setup (now settles at 48-50 idle).
