Pros
- This monitor will be a hit if there are no firmware issues.
- The local dimming will be the best in this monitor from all the monitors so far because they use zero distance technology (no distance between the backlight layer and the panel), so haloing will be significantly reduced which all other m...

- The LG 27GM950B is the best IPS based MiniLED monitor I have tested so far. ... Due to the high pixel density (218ppi), sharpness on this monitor is supreme and a visible improvement even over 4K monitors.
- I think it’s the best productivity and gaming hybrid monitor on the market right now, and I’ve done quite a lot of investigating of this market because I wanted 5K for my Mac and I wanted a good gaming experience that could handle a bit...
Cons
- The LG is an IPS 5k retina monitor - it would be better for work but with terrible contrast for content and games.
- the HDR mode on the 27GM950B-B is, frankly speaking, poorly implemented. ... The PQ EOTF tracking is shifted to the right of the reference curve, which causes the monitor to display HDR content darker than it should. ... despite these is...

The local dimming will be the best in this monitor from all the monitors so far because they use zero distance technology (no distance between the backlight layer and the panel), so haloing will be significantly reduced which all other monitors can't do no matter the algorithm they have.
the HDR mode on the 27GM950B-B is, frankly speaking, poorly implemented. ... The PQ EOTF tracking is shifted to the right of the reference curve, which causes the monitor to display HDR content darker than it should. ... despite these issues, this is a genuinely excellent monitor, and I felt it was worth putting in the effort to solve them.

I just got the LG 27gm950b and the shadow bias feels like LG completely wasted the potential of the panel. ... The shadow biased demon algorithms actively reduce detail and crush colors in the highlight regions, making the image look weird and oversaturated.

The anti glare coating is actually quite good at reducing glare so that it can be used in bright environments without having to worry about your face and other things glaring on a black background, but for productivity work, I think it hurts the monitor quite a bit as text elements especially when on white backgrounds is impacted by the coating. It kind of negates the benefit of 5k quite a bit.
I think it’s a very solid monitor overall but it does have some flaws. ... I think what this monitor does really well is that it’s tuned very well for contrast and has much better viewing angles without really bad mini led haloing that is present on other mini LEDs. The challenge with how it’s tuned though is what you mentioned in that text is overly dimmed and certain ui elements when on dark colors become harder to read
