on the cpu side it's exactly as he said, although you can also try a 8700/8700k, as they should be close to the 9700 in performance.
The 8700k is not great but should be fine with that GPU and 5600 would only be a very small and probably unnoticeable upgrade over it anyway.
I was moving up from an 8th gen i7 8700K build with a RTX 2060 Super and 32GB RAM, which was definitely showing its age but was still very capable at 1080p
8700k performs like a 5600x so no also getting the 16gb model would help with the pcie 3.0 limitations on the 8700k
my 8700k was absolutely bottlenecking my 3080ti before I upgraded.
But I also have a 8700K & 4060 and a 5700G & 5060 in small form factor 5 liter case to carry around and I am totaly fine with that @1080p.
I upgraded my 1080GTX to a 4070 Super and kept my aging I7-8700K. Huge difference. I notice issues on some games that are CPU intensive, nothing you can tweak a game to get out of.
The i7 8700k is a terrible cpu to combo with such a high end gpu
The CPU and the Motherboard are by far the oldest parts so I've got left after years of upgrading my computer bit here and there.
Im still running a i7 8700k with a 1080gtx and am doing research into upgrades so i completely understand.
