Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Been looking towards Chinese and brand name parts in the same computer using my savings to buy a used out of date optiplex preferably with a i5 4590 and a capable psu

Cons

  • But, anything significantly faster than your current GPU will be held back by the old CPU.
  • The CPU is older than the one in my current setup so I'd probably need to upgrade that, although I don't do any transcoding so it's probably not urgent.
  • Hardware: CPU: Intel i5-4590 Motherboard: MSI H97M-E35 RAM: 2x8GB Crucial DDR3 1600 (CT102464BA160B) GPU: MSI GPU PSU: standard ATX PSU
  • Good call on the i5; it'll likely become a shelf project, just like everything else I promise myself that I'll get around to when I find the time.
  • I've been using the same pre-built for a few years now, but I've noticed that it keeps bottlenecking. Right now I have an i5-4590, with an 0F5C5X Dell System Board.

The processor is 4th generation intel. Intel didn’t integrate tpm until 8th generation. It’s not going to be a toggle in the motherboard.
