Pros

  • After you see a doctor, you could try unflavored unsweetened Huel.
  • Huel is pretty good. Have you tried that?
  • Meal replacement shakes like Huel are great if you can find one you can drink.
  • I think Huel is a good one. 2000 calories worth of Huel will meet all of your micronutrient needs.
  • I use those meal replacement drinks a lot if I don’t have time to make something healthy (like Huel).

Cons

  • Yup, but Huel is so nasty. If you want to live a life bereft of joy, you could sustain yourself on it.
  • Parent context: Huel was recently found to have toxic levels of lead. So I would avoid that. Reply: It is pretty similar with most plant based protein products. They all have a higher lead content. Cadmium is also probably more of an iss...
  • Huel has an unflavored/unsweetened option. I get it because they use artificial sweetener and I'm not a fan. It's got an oatmeal-like taste that's pretty inoffensive but I also add honey/my own flavors as I want.
  • the only 2 companies people talk about, Huel and Soylent, either don't ship to Canada (Huel)
  • I have drank Huel as well. Both these companies sell solids, like bars, and dehydrated foods. They are theoretically nutritionally complete, but I can only handle at most one meal of that a day.

Parent context: Huel was recently found to have toxic levels of lead. So I would avoid that. Reply: It is pretty similar with most plant based protein products. They all have a higher lead content. Cadmium is also probably more of an issue than the lead.

Huel has a good set of flavors and options, including a hot and savory version. I've had Huel and it's inoffensive. It's definitely food-flavored. It only needs boiled water or a microwave.
