Google Home

Pros

• Google home, Alexa, etc all connect to your Spotify via your WiFi.
• I use Google home for a shopping list - every time someone at home ends something, they verbally add it to the list so whoever goes to the store, they have an up to date version.
• Yes you can. I use Google Home but other systems should be similar.
• After going back and forth over the years, my current preference is to use Google Home with Matter.
• I think a home assistant backend with a Google home or other front end might be good. Can had all the same devices but front end is simple for other people.

Cons

• My Google home speakers don't seem to stay connected to wifi consistently if the internet drops, which makes them impossible to reliably control with anything self-hosted in that case.
• I hope my Google home never gains cognition [unlikely judging by how stupid it is]—i verbally abuse it more than I care to admit.
• I am using Google Home but without any physical assistant. Just automations and phone, no nest
• Almost nothing using Google home wi work without internet.
• After I've reset the devices and lights I'll then relink them back to Google Home and/or Samsung SmartThings.
