AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Gigabyte B650 AORUS Elite AX is generally well-regarded for its robust power delivery and connectivity features, making it a frequent choice for AM5 builds. While users praise its VRM design and future-proofing options like PCIe 5.0 storage, there are scattered reports of quality control issues and mixed sentiment regarding its reliability compared to other chipsets.

Pros

  • Robust 14+2+1 phase VRM setup suitable for overclocking and future CPU upgrades
  • Includes modern connectivity like WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3
  • Provides four M.2 slots, including one PCIe 5.0 slot for high-speed storage
  • BIOS is reported to be stable and easy to navigate for updates

Cons

  • Reports of hardware-level bugs, such as swapped audio channels
  • Mixed reputation on external retailer sites despite strong technical specifications
  • Some users express skepticism regarding BIOS updates as a fix for stability issues

Caveats

  • Mentions often refer specifically to the 'V2' revision of the board; ensure compatibility and feature sets match the specific version being purchased.
  • One user noted that for a similar price point, newer chipsets might be worth considering.

Best for

  • Builders seeking a mid-range AM5 motherboard with strong power delivery for longevity
  • Users who prioritize having a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot for future storage upgrades

Avoid if

  • You are concerned about potential quality control quirks like audio channel issues
  • You prefer a motherboard with a more consistently positive reputation across all major retail platforms

The only thing that comes to mind is updating the MOBO (gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax v2) since I never did but I am skeptical that it could be the solution.

I am looking to replace the Ryzen 5 3600X with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D (the 7600X3D is out of stock and is only £20 cheaper anyway), fitted to a Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2, plus 2x16GB DIMMs of whatever 6000 RAM I can find at the cheapest possible price, apparently CL36 is the latency to lean for but I am open to criticism and suggestions on all of this.
