The G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000 CL36 is a high-value memory kit frequently cited as a staple component in Micro Center AMD Ryzen bundles. While it is widely praised for its cost-effectiveness—often described as 'practically free' when bundled—it is considered a step below the CL30 'sweet spot' for performance. User sentiment is generally positive regarding its value, though a notable minority of builders report technical hurdles with stability.

Pros

  • Exceptional value when acquired through Micro Center CPU/motherboard bundles
  • 6000MHz frequency aligns well with modern AMD Ryzen performance requirements
  • Sufficient capacity (32GB) for 1440p gaming and general productivity

Cons

  • CL36 latency is higher than the enthusiast-preferred CL30 timing
  • Reported stability issues where AMD EXPO profiles fail to post at rated speeds
  • Some users forced to downclock to 5600MHz to maintain system stability

Caveats

  • Technical issues include the 'orange light of death' on motherboards after enabling EXPO, sometimes requiring a BIOS clear
  • Compatibility may vary significantly depending on the specific CPU and motherboard pairing

Best for

  • Budget-conscious builders utilizing Micro Center bundles
  • AMD Ryzen 7000 and 9000 series builds where value is prioritized over tightest timings

Avoid if

  • You require the absolute lowest latency (CL30) for maximum performance
  • You want a guaranteed 'plug-and-play' EXPO experience without the risk of manual troubleshooting

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence comes from a consistent set of mentions in PC building communities with a median age of approximately 188 days.

The RAM and CPU alone make the bundle worth it. In terms of RAM, since capacity is your pain point, the increased latency of CL36 is negligible (sweetspot is 6000mhz at CL30).

I've had good luck with gskill RAM before, but I haven't used an ASUS Mobo. The reviews looked okay when I researched it, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this bundle and whether or not it's a decent value.

I think I'll move forward with this build and will definitely be taking advantage of that Micro Center bundle. The only change I was thinking about was the Western Digital Caviar Blue for the Crucial T500 Internal SSD or the Crucial P310.
