Fractal Design Terra
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Fractal Design Terra is a highly popular 10L small form factor (SFF) case praised for its distinct aesthetic and compact sandwich-style layout. While it is a top recommendation for its design, users frequently highlight the necessity of careful thermal management and precise component clearance planning.
Pros
- Compact 10L sandwich-style design
- Highly regarded aesthetic and build quality
- Adjustable internal spine allows for flexible allocation of space between GPU and CPU cooler
- Popular choice with significant community support for ITX builds
Cons
- Thermal performance can be challenging, with reports of high CPU temperatures (reaching 90°C+) in some configurations
- Strict height limitations for CPU coolers, often requiring low-profile models under 67mm
- Limited space for cable management and large cooling solutions
Caveats
- High-end CPUs may require undervolting or power limiting to maintain acceptable temperatures
- GPU thickness directly impacts the available height for the CPU cooler
- Requires careful planning to ensure all parts fit within the small internal volume
Best for
- Small form factor (SFF) enthusiasts
- Users prioritizing desk aesthetics and minimal footprint
- Mid-range builds where thermal output is more manageable
Avoid if
- You intend to use high-TDP CPUs without power limits
- You prefer using large tower air coolers or AIO liquid cooling
- You are a first-time builder who wants ample space for cable management
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is based on Reddit mentions from early 2026 with a median age of approximately 192 days, reflecting a stable consensus on the product's performance and design tradeoffs.

Cases like the NR200P, Meshlicious, or Fractal Terra all have great thermals in standard layout.
I have the Factil terra but there are loads.
You’ll want to look at something like a Fractal Terra or Cooler Master NR200. The Terra is around 22cm tall, and the NR200 around 29cm tall.
The most popular Mini ITX case is probably the Fractal Terra.
I would try and shove a 13900ks into a Fractal Terra for example, as a 47mm tall low profile cooler is going to have no chance unless you significantly power limit the CPU (which is an option).
I saw it list the Fractal Terra, Fractal Ridge, and Thermaltake TR100... but I must have clicked on an SFX option on accident because I tired again and it only listed the Meshroom S and D cases, like I suggested below.
The Fractal Terra for example: You need a GPU that'll fit, and then you get a CPU cooler that's short enough to use the remaining space, and you're kind of done.
The Terra seems to be a VERY popular choice for the case, is there any particular reason why besides the admittedly sick looking design?
So my room temperature is at 80F, I have a -15 undervolt on my CPU already. It peaks at 94 °C and averages around 87 - 88 °C when playing Marathon. I also have an exhaust fan as my chassis fan, recommended by different builders. I'm using a B650E-I Motherboard if that helps in any way, and a 5070TI with a 1000watt powersupply. This is my first build, so I'm not too sure if there's an issue, especially with this chip. I also have it in the correct AM5 standoffs and put a good amount of thermal paste.
I'm really in love with the idea of building a PC with the Fractal Terra case, though this is my first ITX build so I'm unsure if I'm missing anything critical with with build and whether or not my parts will fit, or if cooling is gonna be a problem.
