Pros

  • I plan on buying: Durston X-Mid 2
  • Durston x-mid 2|$289|34 oz / 965 g|-3 oz / -84 g|Outstanding community feedback, roomy, not much weight loss over baseline; most expensive option
  • The newest version 3 is also quite light for the size you get.
  • Im currently looking at the Durston X-Mid 2 which would fulfil all my requirements. Still has loads of room and is significantly lighter.
  • I think the X-Mid 2 is my preferred choice at the moment as it is lighter, cheaper, and Europe can get quite warm during summer during other trips.

Cons

  • I was also trying to compare the Duplex to the HMD Unbound 2 as the main fabric of the tent seems to go down closer to the ground kind of like a Durston X-mid 2.
  • My only problem is the price. Id be fine with paying the 300€ for the X-Mid 2 + groundsheet but since I live in Germany you can make that at least 450€ because of taxes, shipping and so on.

Durston X-Mid 2 has been amazing and they sell tent poles if you don’t want to use trekking poles. Much better, roomier, lighter, and easier to pitch than any free standing tent I’ve used. It’s very stormproof, works very well in Northern Europe at least, and I’ve been amazed how little to no condensation I find in …

The X-Mid, on the other hand, has been tested in real conditions and gusts and seems to perform well.

Can’t comment on the others, but I use the xmid-2 with my 35 pound dog and it’s fantastic. Plenty of room even with my non-ultralight setup (25” sleeping mat).
